Netflix has introduced a significant price hike for its subscription plans in recent weeks, as well as a free basic plan with ads, but this hasn’t stopped the platform’s fans from binge-watching on it.
Here are a few platform features you may not be aware of that can help improve your content streaming experience.
Netflix shortcuts on the keyboard
Users binge-watching on laptops can use unique keys on the keyboard to perform simple actions such as pausing, playing, skipping ahead or back 10 seconds, muting, controlling volume, and so on.
Simple reminders include:
- Space/Enter: Pause and play video
- Tap right/left arrow key: Skip ahead or back 10 seconds
- Hold right/left arrow key: Fast forward and rewind by 10 seconds intervals
- Up/down arrow key: Raise and lower volume
- M key: Mute and unmute
- F key: Toggle full screen on and off
- S key: Skip the intro of TV shows
Setting a PIN for your profile
With a quick PIN setup, you can prevent other users from viewing your entire profile. You can also use this setup to lock your children’s profiles if they spend too much time on the platform.
By choosing the Profile Lock option in Account Settings and entering a special code PIN, the PIN can be set up.
Stop auto-play for previews
On all devices, users can disable the intrusive movie and television show trailers in Netflix Settings. You can alter the Playback preferences that force trailers to play continuously by tapping the Account icon and choosing Profile & Parental Controls.
Deleting Netflix history
When using multiple accounts, some people might feel ashamed of their Netflix binge-watching history, but they probably aren’t aware that they have the option to delete it.
By tapping on Viewing Activity in the Account Settings, which will show your entire bingeing history on a page, you can choose the titles you want to delete.
Stop auto-play for the next episode
You can deselect the option in Settings if you want to limit the amount of time you spend binge-watching on Netflix because the next episode keeps endlessly rolling.
You won’t need to manually click to start the next episode once you’ve changed the setting in Settings.
