Elon Musk’s X Platform
Elon Musk’s X platform, formerly known as Twitter, has introduced a new feature. The feature allows paid users to hide their blue verification check marks.
Musk altered the criteria for obtaining the blue tick, now making it mandatory to pay a monthly fee instead of meeting specific qualifications.
Users who subscribe to X Blue for $8 a month can now opt to conceal their check marks on their profiles and posts.

However, the check mark may still be visible in some areas, and certain features might reveal the user’s status.
Criticism has been directed at the platform for the modified verification process. Earlier, it signified a user’s authenticity and the public figures, media personalities, and politicians got Blue Ticks.
Since taking over the platform last year, Musk has been making various changes to revamp the verification process and enhance the subscription service. Despite the new option to hide the blue check mark, it has become a subject of controversy.
Some users view it as an opportunity to maintain privacy and avoid criticism for paying for verification. Others argue that it diminishes the badge’s value and transparency on the platform.
Actress and social media influencer Lili Reinhart expressed concern over the change. Reinhart said that the blue check mark used to hold meaning but now feels diluted.
Similarly, renowned author Stephen King criticized the decision, implying that verification used to carry significance but now appears to be just another perk for those who can afford it.
