ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has released notifications for the winners of five National Assembly constituencies from the recent by-elections. The commission confirmed results for five out of six seats, marking the official start of the tenure for the successful candidates. All five notified winners belong to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
According to the ECP, Baber Nawaz Khan won from NA-18 Haripur. Daniyal Ahmed secured victory in NA-104 Faisalabad. Muhammad Noman claimed the seat in NA-139 Lahore. Muhammad Tufail triumphed in NA-143 Sahiwal. Mahmood Qadir won from NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan.
Notification for NA-95 withheld
However, the ECP withheld the notification for NA-95 Faisalabad. The commission said the notification for Bilal Badr remains pending. Officials confirmed that an inquiry is underway into allegations of violating the election code of conduct. The notification will be issued after the inquiry concludes.
Process completed after the by-election round
The ECP stated that these notifications were issued after the completion of all procedural requirements of the by-election process. The confirmations now allow the winning candidates to begin their official parliamentary responsibilities.

US stops immigration process for Afghans
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services has halted all immigration requests involving Afghan nationals. The agency announced the decision on Wednesday night. Officials said the suspension will remain in place indefinitely. The move follows the shooting of two National Guard soldiers in Washington. Officials confirmed the suspect was taken into custody after being wounded. Investigators identified him as Rahmanullah Lakanwal. They said he is a 29-year-old Afghan national who lived in Washington State. A Justice Department official said investigators are treating the incident as terrorism.
