The revised plan has been issued under the provisions of the Election Act 2017, ensuring a transparent and legally compliant electoral process.
According to the spokesperson for the Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab, the by-elections will take place in constituencies NA-96, NA-104, and NA-143 from Faisalabad, and PP-98 and PP-203 from Sahiwal. These elections are being held to fill vacant seats in the National and Provincial Assemblies.
The ECP also shared a detailed timeline for the upcoming by-polls. The last date for filing appeals against the Returning Officers’ decisions has been set as October 24, while the Appellate Tribunals will deliver their rulings by October 31.
Following these decisions, the revised list of candidates will be published on November 1. Candidates who wish to withdraw from the contest can do so by November 3, and election symbols will be allotted to all eligible candidates on November 4.
The Election Commission has directed all candidates, political parties, and relevant government departments to strictly adhere to the code of conduct throughout the election campaign. It has also urged law enforcement agencies and administrative officials to ensure a peaceful environment for voters and polling staff on election day.
The ECP reiterated its commitment to conducting the by-elections in line with the Election Act 2017, emphasizing that transparency, impartiality, and fair play remain the top priorities.
Monitoring teams will be deployed to ensure compliance with the electoral code, and any violations or irregularities will be dealt with according to the law.
