Zhu Zhaojiang, Chairman of the Chinese firm Transsion Holdings, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday and expressed his company’s interest in increasing investment in Pakistan.
The focus areas include mobile phone manufacturing, electric bikes, modern agriculture, and Fintech sectors.
During the meeting, which took place as part of the Prime Minister’s five-day official visit to China, Shehbaz Sharif urged the relevant federal ministers and Pakistan’s Ambassador in China to collaborate with the Chinese company to quickly develop a strategic plan.
He emphasized that the current government is providing extensive support to foreign investors and businesses.
The Prime Minister also invited Transsion Holdings to produce goods in Pakistan for export, highlighting the country’s abundant resources and youthful population.
Zhu Zhaojiang briefed the Prime Minister on Transsion Holdings’ existing operations in Pakistan, its global exports, and plans for further investment in the country.
The company has already set up a mobile phone manufacturing unit in Pakistan, employing around 5,000 Pakistani workers. Zhu expressed the company’s desire to expand its investment in the mobile phone industry, which would also boost mobile phone exports from Pakistan.
Federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Jam Kamal Khan, Attaullah Tarar, and Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja attended the meeting in China.
