Former federal minister Faisal Vawda has credited military leadership including Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir for appreciation in the value of Pakistani currency against US dollar.
Vawda stated that credit should be given to the military leadership for the positive development, saying, “You should pay tribute… It is a happy day for Pakistan. The [exchange] value of the dollar witnessed a decline after the army chief issued directives to DG ISI and DG C.”
According to Vawda, as a result of General Munir’s efforts, the local currency appreciated by Rs15 to Rs16, and he anticipated a further drop of Rs10 against the US dollar in the coming days.
He also criticized the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), claiming that it played no role in halting the decline of the rupee and labeling it as incompetent in handling the matter.
The Pakistani rupee has been on an upward trend against the US dollar in recent days, thanks in part to a crackdown on currency hoarders and smugglers.
When asked about the steps taken by authorities to address the currency crisis, Vawda mentioned the regulation and control of exchange companies and actions against individuals involved in currency smuggling.
Vawda also expressed concerns about corrupt political leaders and criticized various political parties for causing harm to the country. He suggested that eliminating these parties would result in significant improvements for Pakistan.
Vawda accused these parties of destroying the country and expressed optimism about the future leadership of the judiciary. He referred to outgoing Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial as someone who would make a significant impact and described the upcoming Chief Justice as an “upright man” who would not harm the people.
