Following recent amendments to the federal government’s net metering policy, solar panel prices have started to decrease, offering relief to consumers interested in renewable energy solutions.
The price reduction of Rs. 2 per watt has led to notable cuts in installation costs. As a result, the overall cost of installing solar power systems has dropped by Rs. 35,000, now ranging from Rs. 175,000 depending on the system’s capacity.
With the updated pricing, consumers looking to switch to solar energy can expect the following costs for on-grid systems (those connected directly to the electricity grid):
- 5kW system: Rs. 550,000
- 7kW system: Rs. 625,000
- 10kW system: Rs. 850,000
- 12kW system: Rs. 978,000
- 15kW system: Rs. 1,150,000
However, it’s important to note that hybrid systems, which include battery storage, will incur higher costs due to the additional expense of batteries.
