KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet on Friday approved a salary hike for government employees as part of the upcoming Budget 2025–26, providing financial relief amid rising inflation.
According to official details, employees in grades 1 to 16 will receive a 12% salary increase, while those in grades 17 to 22 will see a 10% raise. The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting ahead of the provincial budget presentation.
The Sindh budget for FY 2025–26 is set to be unveiled today (Friday), with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah — who also serves as the provincial finance minister — scheduled to present it in the Sindh Assembly at 3 PM in Karachi.
Key Budget Proposals
The Sindh government has finalized its budget proposals, which include a notable increase in the Annual Development Program (ADP) allocation — from Rs493 billion to Rs503 billion.
Some of the major highlights include:
- Rs183 billion allocated for new development schemes
- Rs45 billion proposed for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) fund, benefiting MNAs and MPAs
- Rs7 billion development package for each divisional headquarters city
- Education sector development budget proposed to increase from Rs32 billion to Rs38 billion
- Health sector allocation set to rise from Rs18 billion to Rs21 billion
These allocations reflect the provincial government’s focus on social development, infrastructure, and essential public services in the coming fiscal year.
