Sohni Dharti Remittance Program
KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a new ‘Diamond’ category within the Sohni Dharti Remittance Program (SDRP) to further encourage remittances through formal channels.
Effective from September 22, 2023, the ‘Diamond’ category joins the existing Green, Gold, and Platinum categories of the SDRP. This point-based loyalty program allows remitters to accumulate reward points by sending remittances through SBP-regulated entities.
Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced the addition of the Diamond category in the FY24 budget speech, offering enhanced reward points and various benefits, including arms licenses, preferential treatment at Pakistan embassies and airports, and gratis passports for Diamond Category holders.
Remitters and their beneficiaries can redeem these reward points for various services and products, including Emigrant Registration fees, duty payments for imported mobile devices and vehicles, school fees, and passport renewal fees.
Moreover, remitters and their beneficiaries can utilize these reward points for international air tickets, extra luggage charges, life insurance or takaful premium payments, and purchases at Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan.
These points can presented as a virtual card on the app and update automatically after each remittance.
The SDRP also offers additional reward points redemption options, including 1BILL and Pay Pak cards, allowing remitters and beneficiaries to pay bills and use Pay Pak Cards at merchants and Pakistani e-commerce stores.
