ISLAMABAD: For the first time Pakistan has exported meat to Jordan. Tata Foods has exported meat consignment to Jordan. Razak Dawood, Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment disclosed this development today.
While congratulating the company via tweet, the advisor said that the promotion and facilitation of non-traditional products to new markets constitutes MOC’s diversification policy.
To recall, the government of Jordan notified three Pakistan-based slaughterhouses for the export of meat products last month. These companies include Tata Best Food Limited, the Organic Meat Limited Company and Tazij Meat and Food, Mettis Global reported today.
As per PBS data, Pakistan exported meat and meat products worth $104.5 million between July-Oct FY22 against $101.9 million over the corresponding months of last year, indicating a marginal growth of 2.6% YoY.
In terms of quantity, the export of meat and its products stood at 24,409 metric tonnes during 4MFY22 against 30,017 metric tonnes last year.
The Ministry of Commerce further urged exporters to aggressively market their products in other new markets.
