Pakistan allows LPG, LNG, crude oil, other important items from Iran, Russia and Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government has issued a statutory regulatory order (SRO) allowing import of LPG, LNG, crude oil and other essential consumer items from Iran, Russia, and Afghanistan.

With this decision, people in the country will get many essential consumer items at affordable prices once their imports begins from these countries.

On Friday, the Ministry of Commerce has issued an SRO to implement this decision.

According to the SRO, Pakistan can export 26 to these countries including rice, medicines, footwear, textile products, and so on.

Imports from Iran

Moreover, the government today allowed the import of LPG, LNG, crude oil, fruits, nuts, vegetables, spices, minerals and metals, coal and products, chemical products, fertilizers, article of plastics and rubber, raw hides and skins, raw wool and articles of iron and steel from Iran.

Imports from Russia and Afghanistan

While the import of pulses, wheat, coal and related products, petroleum oils including crude, LNG and LPG, fertilizers, tanning and dying extracts, articles of plastic and rubber, minerals and metals, chemicals products, articles of iron and steel, and items of textile industrial machinery has been allowed from Russia. 

“Application for authorization of import and export of goods under the B2B barter trade facility shall be submitted online by the trader or their authorized agent through the online system to the regulatory collector,” the notification reads.

PM Shehbaz and Raisi launch border market

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Pakistan and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi held a crucial meeting at the Pak-Iran border to expand the two countries’ bilateral ties.

Iranian President Raisi also hosted a luncheon in honor of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior government officials during the inauguration of border market. They also launched a new power project to supply electricity in Pakistani border areas near Iran.

The two countries’ top leaders are holding a bilateral meeting after a long time. Their meeting becomes more important in the wake of the Saudi-Iran rapprochement facilitated by China two months ago.
