ANKARA: In 2024 and 2025 more or less nine million British tourists are expected to explore tourism in Turkiye.
About four millions will visit Turkiye in the calendar year 2024 and British tourists number in Turkiye will surge to five million in 2025.
The UK’s ambassador in Ankara Jill Morris stated that four million British tourists are expected to visit Turkey in 2024, with that number set to exceed 5 million in 2025.
During her visit to the Mediterranean resort town of Fethiye in Turkey’s Mugla province, Ambassador Jill Morris highlighted the popularity of Mugla among British tourists. She also emphasized Fethiye’s significance not only in tourism but also in agricultural production and exports to various countries.
Morris mentioned ongoing negotiations between the British government and Turkish authorities to open export gates to the UK for key agricultural production centers, including Fethiye.
Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca welcomed Morris’s visit, highlighting Fethiye’s presence in domestic and international tourism fairs and expressing confidence in a strong tourism season ahead.
He noted efforts to extend the tourism season and increase the number of direct flights between the UK and Dalaman district in Mugla.
Karaca also mentioned Fethiye’s representation at the World Travel Market (WTM) London and expressed interest in attending this year’s event.
