Aroob Jatoi, wife of popular YouTuber Saadur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Wednesday after securing pre-arrest bail in a case linked to her husband’s alleged promotion of online gambling applications.
Additional Sessions Judge Zafaryab restrained authorities from arresting Jatoi until August 30, after she filed a plea for bail. The court granted relief against surety bonds worth Rs50,000. Her lawyer, Advocate Ch Irfan Faiz Kalaar, told the court that Jatoi was ready to join the probe but feared arrest.
The NCCIA, which currently holds Ducky Bhai in custody, summoned Jatoi to its Lahore Gulberg-II office on August 20 to record her statement. Her counsel claimed she was initially illegally detained for two hours on August 19, during which officials also confiscated her phone. On Wednesday, the agency formally recorded her statement, questioning her for nearly 90 minutes.
The investigation stems from allegations that Ducky Bhai promoted illegal betting and gambling apps—such as Binomo, 1xBet, Bet 365, and B9 Game—on his YouTube channel, enticing the public to invest money and subsequently suffer financial losses.
Rehman was arrested at Lahore Airport on August 17 and remanded into NCCIA custody until August 23. The case was registered by the state at midnight the same day under multiple sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, including Electronic Forgery, Fraud, Spamming, and Spoofing, along with Pakistan Penal Code provisions on cheating and offering prizes in trade.
The inquiry, initiated on June 13, was based on intelligence reports claiming that social media influencers were promoting gambling apps for financial gain.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2022, has previously made headlines. In 2024, they were briefly detained in Lahore for displaying weapons on social media. Now, their journey from online stardom to legal controversy underscores the growing scrutiny of digital influencers in Pakistan.
