Dubaiโs Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the successful recovery of lost belongings worth more than AED 2 million during 2025, highlighting the integrity and professionalism of the emirateโs taxi drivers, including a large number of Pakistani nationals.
According to RTA statistics, over 104,000 lost-and-found reports were handled last year through its dedicated Call Centre and Lost and Found Team. These efforts led to the return of more than AED 2 million in cash, approximately 35,000 electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets, and nearly 3,000 passports and official documents. Jewellery and other valuable personal items were also among the recovered belongings.
The RTA credited the efficiency of its integrated lost-and-found system, which verifies trip details, tracks vehicle movements and coordinates directly with taxi companies and drivers. In most cases, misplaced items were located and returned to their owners within two hours of a report being filed.
To serve Dubaiโs multicultural population, the RTA Call Centre operates in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Filipino, French, Chinese and Russian. This multilingual approach ensures accessibility and quick communication with both passengers and drivers.
RTA officials commended taxi drivers for their honesty and cooperation, noting that many promptly hand over forgotten items without hesitation. Pakistani taxi drivers, who form a significant portion of Dubaiโs transport workforce, were particularly praised for their integrity and professionalism, based on industry feedback and passenger experiences.
The RTA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing customer trust and service excellence, emphasizing that ethical conduct among drivers remains a cornerstone of Dubaiโs world-class public transport system.
