Dubai: Many cities of the UAE including Dubai were subjected to overnight wind-cum-rain storm, with wind gusts reaching more than 60 MPH. The incessant rain caused massive flooding of the roads and alleys between large housing projects. Despite the lapse of more than 12 hours, many roads were still found to be submerged in accumulated rain water.
It is pertinent to note here that the whole area, inclusive of the other cities of UAE, Oman and many places in Iran and Iraq are subject to the westerly rain bearing systems during the month of January to March. these weather systems originating from the Mediterranean Sea are often accompanied by hail and strong winds. Few parts of Pakistan too have been impacted by the current wave; weather experts maintain.
