Dubai International Airport has begun installing advanced 3D AI-powered scanners to revolutionize security checks for passengers. These state-of-the-art machines are designed to speed up the screening process by analyzing luggage within seconds, allowing travellers to clear security without the hassle of removing laptops, perfumes, water bottles, or other liquids from their bags.
Officials said the project will be fully completed by the end of 2026, promising a smarter and more seamless journey for millions of flyers.
Dubai, strategically located between Asia, Europe, and Africa, has consistently ranked as the worldโs busiest hub for international passengers for over a decade.
The airport recently recorded its busiest first half ever, handling 46 million passengers, reflecting a 2.3% year-on-year growth despite regional disruptions caused by the Iran-Israel war. During the 12-day conflict, airlines were forced to cancel flights to several Middle Eastern destinations as multiple governments shut down airspace.
On average, Dubai International processed around 7.7 million passengers per month during the first six months of 2025, equating to about 254,000 travellers daily.
This record pace builds on the airportโs strong performance in 2024, when it registered its highest annual passenger traffic in history, accommodating 92.3 million people.
India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom remained the top three countries in terms of passenger flow to and from Dubai, underlining the cityโs role as a critical global transit hub.
Airport authorities expressed confidence that the integration of AI-driven scanners will not only improve passenger convenience but also enhance efficiency and security.
By reducing bottlenecks and streamlining the clearance process, Dubai International aims to set new global benchmarks in aviation technology and customer experience, cementing its position as the premier international gateway.
