A drone strike targeted the US Consulate General in Dubai early Wednesday, igniting a fire inside the diplomatic compound and triggering a swift emergency response.
According to initial reports from regional media, the drone hit the consulate building shortly before dawn. Witnesses said the explosion reverberated several kilometres away, alarming residents in nearby neighbourhoods. Authorities believe the attack was likely launched by Iran in response to the ongoing military escalation involving the United States and Israel. However, officials have not yet released forensic findings confirming responsibility.
Emergency Crews Contain Blaze Swiftly
Soon after the blast, Dubai Civil Defence fire brigades rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations. Officials cordoned off the surrounding diplomatic district to secure the area and facilitate rescue efforts. As a precaution, security forces restricted movement around the compound.
The Dubai government later confirmed that emergency teams had successfully brought the fire under control. Moreover, authorities stated that no casualties were reported and that the situation is now fully contained. Investigators have since launched a probe to determine the exact circumstances of the attack.
Diplomatic Enclave on High Alert
The US Consulate is located near the British Embassy in Dubai, placing several diplomatic missions within close proximity of the blast site. In addition, the consulates of Saudi Arabia and Qatar operate within walking distance of the compound.
Furthermore, the Pakistani consulate stands approximately 700 meters from the affected building. Following the incident, security measures were visibly heightened across the diplomatic enclave as officials assessed potential risks and reinforced protective protocols.
