Islamabad Traffic Police has announced a strict crackdown against drivers operating without valid licenses starting October 1, marking a major step in road safety enforcement. Offenders will not only be arrested but their vehicles will also be impounded under the new measures.
According to directives issued by Inspector General of Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, traffic police officials have been instructed to take strict action against all unlicensed drivers. After the deadline, violators will be booked under cases and detained, ensuring that the rule is applied across the board without exception.
Officials confirmed that both private and government drivers will face detention if caught without licenses, and their vehicles will remain impounded at police stations until proper documentation is provided.
In a further tightening of regulations, authorities have clarified that no character certificates or personal guarantees will be accepted for the release of violators. The only way to comply is by obtaining a valid license.
To assist government employees, Islamabad Traffic Police has established licensing services at various government offices, ensuring accessibility and easing the process of obtaining licenses before the October deadline. This facility is designed to encourage compliance among official drivers, who will otherwise face the same penalties as private citizens.
Citizens are being strongly advised to apply for licenses as soon as possible to avoid arrest and inconvenience once the enforcement begins.
Authorities emphasized that the crackdown is not simply punitive but is part of broader efforts to strengthen traffic discipline, improve road safety, and reduce accidents often caused by untrained and unlicensed drivers.
By tightening enforcement and eliminating loopholes, Islamabad Traffic Police aims to create a safer driving environment for all road users. Officials have made it clear that compliance with traffic laws is non-negotiable and October 1 marks the beginning of zero tolerance toward unlicensed driving.
