Abbottabad police achieved a major breakthrough in the murder case of Dr Warda Mushtaq. Suspect Adil confessed to abducting and killing the doctor before a judicial magistrate. His statement helped authorities recover critical evidence and advance the investigation significantly.
Adil Details the Crime
During his confession under Section 164, Adil stated that Shamraiz, another accused, instructed him to dig a pit on the day of the murder. He further revealed that he and a man named Faisal dug the pit and buried Dr Wardaโs body there.
Police confirmed that the murder was premeditated and planned at a house in Shazman Colony. Following his confession, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Abbottabad granted Adil a seven-day judicial remand and sent him to jail.
Evidence Recovered from Suspect Leads
Based on Adilโs directions, authorities recovered several key items. These included Dr Wardaโs mobile phone, ATM card, driving license, and passport-sized photographs.
In addition, police seized a large cache of weapons from Shamraizโs residence. SP Ayaz Khan confirmed that officers recovered a rocket launcher round, multiple rifles, and other firearms.
Arrests and Ongoing Operations
So far, police have arrested five suspects in connection with the case. Shamraiz, identified as the main figure, was killed in a police encounter on Thandiani Road near Mera Rehmat Khan Kunda after exchanging fire with law enforcement.
However, two of Shamraizโs associates remain at large. Authorities are conducting raids to capture them. Meanwhile, police continue efforts to ensure that all accomplices are apprehended.
Victim Background and Investigation Progress
Dr Warda served at DHQ Hospital Abbottabad. Officials said that her abduction and murder were premeditated by a close acquaintance. DPO Abbottabad Haroon Rasheed emphasized that mobile data played a crucial role in tracing the main suspect and recovering vital evidence.
Furthermore, authorities assured the public that they will hold everyone responsible fully accountable. The investigation remains ongoing, with security forces prioritizing the capture of the remaining suspects.
