Lahore – In a disturbing case of animal abuse, Khansa Hussain was arrested by Defence police in Lahore after allegedly torturing and killing pets, then posting graphic photos and videos of the abuse on her social media accounts.
Authorities say the woman is believed to be mentally unstable, and she has since been transferred to a mental health facility for evaluation.
According to police, Hussain had been using Instagram to share disturbing visuals of injured and dead animals, triggering alarm among viewers and animal rights activists. A raid on her residence revealed a horrific scene: multiple dead pets and several live animals—including rabbits, ducks, cats, squirrels, and birds—found in severe distress.
The surviving animals were immediately rescued and handed over to the Wildlife Department for medical care and rehabilitation.
Investigators also discovered that Hussain operated a social media account where she tagged animals for sale and pressured followers to purchase them, raising suspicions of exploitation under the guise of pet ownership.
A case has been registered against her under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act. Police emphasized the seriousness of the case and urged the public to report any signs of animal cruelty, particularly those shared online.
Authorities have also called on social media platforms to tighten monitoring mechanisms to prevent the spread of such disturbing content.
