At least 35 Palestinians have been killed and over 175 injured following an Israeli strike on a US-supported aid distribution site in Rafah, according to Gazaโs Red Cross Hospital.
The deadly incident took place near a humanitarian aid hub operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, where crowds of civilians had gathered in hopes of receiving urgently needed food and supplies.
Initially, Gazaโs Government Media Office reported 22 deaths, but the toll quickly rose as more casualties were confirmed. Medical staff say many of the wounded are in critical condition.
Officials in Gaza condemned the attack, accusing both Israel and the United States of turning humanitarian aid points into “mass death traps.”
โThe repeated targeting of civilians at these aid distribution sites shows they are no longer safe havens, but carefully calculated kill zones,โ read a statement from the media office. โThis is a deliberate and inhumane tactic โ using food as bait to lure starving civilians into zones under occupation surveillance.โ
The office also claimed that within the past week alone, Israeli strikes on aid sites have killed at least 39 people and injured more than 220.
Holding both Israel and the United States โmorally and legally responsible,โ the statement cited US logistical, financial, and political backing for the aid efforts being carried out in Gaza โ efforts now described as dangerously compromised.
The humanitarian crisis in Rafah continues to worsen, with international agencies struggling to deliver aid amid intensified Israeli military operations. The latest attack has prompted fresh calls for an immediate ceasefire and an independent investigation into repeated assaults on aid convoys and distribution points.
