Iranian President Pezeshkian expresses desire to enhance collaboration; both sides reiterate $10bn trade goal.
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Sunday held a meeting with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian during his official visit to Islamabad, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its longstanding ties with Iran.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Dar warmly welcomed the visiting Iranian leader and underscored the enduring relationship between the two nations, grounded in shared history, cultural heritage, religious values, and mutual respect.
President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s continued support and reiterated Iran’s intention to strengthen cooperation across a wide range of sectors. He said he looked forward to productive discussions with Pakistani leadership to further enhance bilateral relations, particularly in the economic domain.
Senator Dar also lauded the Iranian president’s vision of increasing bilateral trade to $10 billion, calling it both timely and essential.
“It is very heart-warming and a need of the hour to expand economic activities by building coordinated economic frameworks together,” Dar stated.
The meeting was part of a broader diplomatic agenda tied to President Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan, aimed at reinforcing political, trade, and regional cooperation between the two neighbours.
