Terror Plot
Security forces in Pakistan, in coordination with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), carried out a major intelligence-based operation in the Khanoi Baba area of Pishin district, Balochistan, resulting in the elimination of nine terrorists on Friday.
The operation marks a significant success in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region, which has seen a resurgence in violent activity in recent months.
According to CTD officials, the action was launched following credible intelligence reports confirming the presence of militants belonging to a banned organization. The terrorists were reportedly operating from a hideout in the remote mountainous region of Pishin and had been planning a major terror attack.
The intelligence prompted a swift and coordinated response from both the CTD and local security forces, aimed at pre-empting the impending threat.
As the joint team approached the location, they came under fire from the militants, triggering a fierce gunbattle. During the exchange, nine terrorists were neutralised. No casualties were reported among the security forces.
After the operation, officials recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the site, including automatic weapons, hand grenades, and explosives, which suggested the group was preparing for a large-scale strike.
CTD sources revealed that the neutralised terrorists were involved in a series of past attacks targeting security personnel and civilians across Balochistan.
These included ambushes on convoys, targeted killings, and bombings intended to destabilise the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact affiliations of the slain militants and uncover the full scope of their plans.
The bodies of the terrorists have been shifted to Civil Hospital Pishin for identification and medico-legal formalities. Security has been tightened in and around the district, and a follow-up sweep is being conducted to ensure no further threats remain.
Officials hailed the operation as a major blow to terrorist networks operating in the province and reaffirmed their commitment to rooting out militancy and restoring peace to Balochistan.
