ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday reviewed a petition seeking enhanced prison facilities for Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently held at Adiala Jail.
During the hearing, presided over by Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas, the Advocate General’s Office submitted a detailed report from the jail superintendent outlining the arrangements made for Bushra Bibi. She was represented in court by lawyers Usman Gul and Zahir Abbas.
According to the report, Bushra Bibi is being held in a separate, spacious room furnished with a mattress, chair, table, bookshelf, and equipped with lighting, a fan, and a room cooler to provide relief during the summer. She also has access to an LCD television and a separate kitchen for meal preparation.
The report further noted that her food is inspected by a medical officer, and she undergoes twice-daily medical check-ups.
After reviewing the report, the court instructed the petitioner’s counsel to examine the details and present their response at the next hearing. The case has been adjourned, with the next date to be set according to the court roster.
This development comes after the IHC issued notices to the Interior Secretary and Adiala Jail Superintendent in response to Bushra Bibi’s plea for improved jail conditions.
Separately, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi have filed applications with the IHC seeking early hearings on their acquittal pleas in the Toshakhana 2 case.
