As Ramadan commenced, the prices of cooking oils in Karachi saw a significant increase, further burdening local consumers.
Edible oils, including cooking and mustard oils, experienced a sharp rise in cost, with the price of open edible oil climbing from Rs480 to Rs500 per litre.
A local vendor shared, “Mustard oil has also seen a price hike, rising by Rs20 per litre and now selling at Rs520.”
Prices for various cooking oil brands were observed to fluctuate across Karachi’s markets, highlighting the broader inflationary trend affecting food products.
This surge in cooking oil prices comes alongside the rising cost of fruits, leaving consumers worried about the growing financial strain during the holy month of Ramadan.
