ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Asim Munir has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic development, highlighting the promising future indicated by the achievements under the Green Corporate Project.
Praising Punjab’s farmers for their leadership in modern agriculture, General Munir acknowledged the province as Pakistan’s agricultural powerhouse and commended the Green Corporate initiative for its remarkable milestones in a short period. He assured continued military backing for the country’s economic advancement.
The event, attended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and General Asim Munir, marked the inauguration of several Green Pakistan Initiative Projects, including the Green Agri Mall & Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agri Research and Facilitation Centre in Kandai and Chapu, Cholistan.
The Green Agri Mall & Service Company will provide farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and fuel at controlled rates, along with rental farming machinery and drones to assist with farming at affordable costs.
The Smart Agri Farm, covering 5,000 acres and utilizing modern agricultural techniques and high-efficiency irrigation systems, will serve as a model for maximizing crop yields at minimal costs. The Agri Research and Facilitation Centre will offer agricultural inputs, laboratory services, and connectivity with national research and academic partners to foster further advancements.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the launch of the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) Projects, emphasizing the importance of agriculture as Pakistan’s lifeline and lauding the introduction of modern practices in the sector. During the event, she also presented land allotment letters to the families of martyrs and war-wounded personnel.
The event was attended by several federal and provincial ministers, including Rana Tanveer Hussain (National Food Security & Research), Dr. Mussadiq Malik (Water Resources), Marrium Aurangzeb (Senior Provincial Minister), Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani (Agriculture & Livestock), and Muhammad Kazim Pirzada (Irrigation).
