ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday praised the “professionalism, resolve and commitment” displayed by Pakistan’s armed forces during Marka-i-Haq, saying their performance had “enhanced” the country’s global standing.
The remarks came as he addressed participants of National Security Workshop–27 during their visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ), the military’s media wing, ISPR, said in a statement.
The Pakistan Army designated the period of conflict with India — from the April 22 Pahalgam attack to the May 10 conclusion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos — as Marka-i-Haq earlier this year.
‘Pakistan is a Country of Consequences’
Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan was “a country of consequences” and was destined to achieve its rightful place among the nations.
“Our greatest strength lies in national unity, and together, we shall defeat the nefarious designs of our foes,” he said, according to ISPR.
Regional Environment and Security Challenges
The army chief highlighted a “fluid regional environment” shaped by increasing geopolitical rivalry, cross-border terrorism and hybrid threats.
He said Pakistan continued to face complex challenges, including “externally supported militancy” and information warfare.
Despite these pressures, he noted that the military, intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions had maintained “unwavering professionalism and resolve” in safeguarding national security.
Briefing on Internal Security Measures
Workshop participants were briefed on national efforts to curb illegal activities such as smuggling, narcotics trafficking and organised crime, which pose risks to internal security.
ISPR said updates were also shared on tightened border controls and the repatriation of illegal foreigners, steps aimed at strengthening internal order and protecting national interests.
