Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reduced the tariff of electricity generated through solar power in the province by Rs. 2 per unit.
The decision was made during the 29th meeting of the Punjab Cabinet, chaired by the Chief Minister, where several other important public welfare initiatives were also approved.
During the meeting, the final relief package for flood victims was approved, with the distribution of compensation cheques set to begin on October 17.
Under the package, the families of deceased individuals will receive Rs. 1 million, those with permanent disabilities Rs. 500,000, and those with minor disabilities Rs. 300,000. For completely destroyed brick houses, Rs. 1 million will be provided, while partially damaged ones will receive Rs. 300,000.
Fully destroyed mud houses will get Rs. 500,000, and partially damaged ones Rs. 150,000. Affected individuals will also be compensated for livestock losses — Rs. 500,000 for large animals and Rs. 50,000 for small ones.
Meanwhile, the annual MBBS fee for overseas Pakistani students has been set at USD 10,000. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz rejected the proposal of a USD 20,000 fee, reaffirming her commitment to keeping education affordable.
Additionally, students from other provinces seeking MBBS admission in Punjab will now be required to pass the MDCAT test.
