China has expressed deep concern over Israel’s military strikes on Iran, urging all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize regional peace and stability, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing is “closely monitoring the situation” and is alarmed by the potential for serious consequences if the conflict escalates further. “We call on all relevant parties to avoid actions that could intensify tensions,” he said.
Lin added that China is prepared to play a “constructive role” in helping defuse the crisis and support diplomatic efforts to restore calm in the region.
The remarks follow Israel’s announcement of the launch of Operation Rising Lion, a widescale military campaign targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, ballistic missile production sites, and key military personnel. The Israeli government said the campaign aims to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons and would continue “for as many days as it takes.”
Explosions were reported by Iranian media and eyewitnesses at several locations, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. In anticipation of Iranian retaliation through drone and missile strikes, Israel declared a state of emergency.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the operation as a critical moment for the nation’s security. “We are at a decisive moment in Israel’s history,” he said in a video statement.
In addition to airstrikes, Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency reportedly carried out covert sabotage missions inside Iran, targeting missile infrastructure and air defense systems, according to Axios, citing a senior Israeli official.
An Israeli military source claimed Iran currently possesses enough enriched material to build up to 15 nuclear weapons within days, further heightening international alarm.
