ISLAMABAD – As tensions escalate between Pakistan and India following the recent Pahalgam incident, China has reiterated its strong support for Pakistan, describing the relationship as one between “iron brothers.”
In a meeting held Monday, President Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong discussed regional security concerns and the broader trajectory of bilateral cooperation. The conversation centered on the growing strain between Islamabad and New Delhi.
President Zardari expressed serious concern over what he described as provocative actions and rhetoric from India, warning that such behavior threatens the fragile peace in South Asia.
“India’s aggressive posture and irresponsible statements are endangering regional stability,” Zardari stated during the meeting.
He also conveyed appreciation for China’s consistent diplomatic and strategic backing. “We are deeply thankful for China’s steadfast support, especially during these challenging times,” he said.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reaffirmed Beijing’s enduring commitment to Pakistan, highlighting the depth of the bilateral partnership.
“China and Pakistan are iron brothers—bound by mutual respect and a shared vision,” Jiang said. “We have always stood together in times of difficulty.”
The Chinese envoy emphasized that Beijing would continue to support Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and stability across the region.
“We remain committed to Pakistan and its pursuit of regional harmony. Our partnership is anchored in common goals for a peaceful South Asia,” he added.
The reaffirmation of ties comes as regional dynamics continue to shift, with diplomatic and military tensions between Pakistan and India showing little sign of easing.
