China attributes the recent increase in tensions in the Middle East to Israel’s actions, particularly their alleged hostile assault on Iran’s embassy.
During the United Nations Security Council Briefing addressing the Middle East situation, Chinese Ambassador Dai Bing expressed concerns about a potential crisis in the region, as it could lead to severe repercussions beyond its borders.
On April 1st, Bing reported that Iran’s diplomatic facilities in Syria experienced aerial assaults, leading to the unfortunate loss of Iranian staff members and significant damage to the premises.
“This constitutes a severe infringement upon the UN Charter and global legal standards, as well as encroaching upon the sovereignty of both Syria and Iran. The aggressive nature of this act is highly deplorable,” the speaker further commented.
He urged everyone to practice utmost restraint and calmness, addressing their disagreements and conflicts in alignment with the UN Charter’s objectives and international law. This would help avoid further intensification of the situation. Additionally, Bing attributed the present circumstances to Iran’s involvement in Gaza.
“This statement emphasizes the ongoing significance of the Palestinian issue in relation to Middle Eastern affairs, impacting peace, stability, and long-term security. If the Gaza conflict’s unrest persists, it will likely exacerbate instability, causing the negative consequences to extend even further throughout the region,” Bing commented.
The statement, “Countries and peoples in the Middle East have no desire for, nor can they afford a larger conflict or war,” highlights the general sentiment of avoiding larger-scale conflicts in the region.
However, the recent events of Iran’s direct attack on Israeli territory through explosive drones and missile firing, as a retaliatory measure, have escalated the threat of a broader regional conflict. This situation is further complicated by the U.S. promising unwavering support for Israel.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, Israel’s military spokesperson, announced that Iran had launched numerous ground-to-ground missiles towards Israel. The majority of these missiles were intercepted before reaching Israeli territory. Among them were over 10 cruise missiles, as per his statement.
