ChatGPT has begun rolling out a new year-end recap feature. The experience is similar in concept to Spotify Wrapped. It offers users a personalized look back at how they used ChatGPT throughout the year. The feature is called “Your Year with ChatGPT.” It is currently becoming available to eligible users in select regions.
At launch, the feature is accessible in the United States. Other English-speaking markets are also included. These regions include Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Users in other countries are still waiting. Many hope broader global access will follow soon.
The rollout is gradual. Not all eligible users will see the feature at the same time.
Who Can Access “Your Year with ChatGPT”
OpenAI has confirmed that the feature is available across multiple subscription tiers. Users on Free, Plus, and Pro plans can access it. However, certain requirements must be met. Users must have reference saved memories enabled. They must also have reference chat history turned on.
A minimum level of conversation activity is also required. OpenAI has not shared the exact threshold. Accounts with very limited usage may not qualify. The feature is currently unavailable for Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts. These account types have been excluded from the rollout.
OpenAI has described the recap as lightweight. It is designed to be privacy-focused. Full control remains with the user at all times.
What the Year-End Recap Experience Includes
The experience is inspired by Spotify Wrapped. It presents a visual summary of user activity over the past year. Colorful graphics are used throughout the recap. Usage patterns are analyzed and displayed in a friendly format.
Users receive playful “awards” based on how they interacted with ChatGPT. For example, users who frequently solve problems may receive a “Creative Debugger” title. Others may see awards tied to learning, writing, or brainstorming.
The recap also highlights major topics of interest. These are based on conversation trends during the year. A custom poem is generated for each user. An image is also created to represent their interests visually. The experience is meant to feel personal and fun.
The content is designed to be easy to share. Many users are expected to post their recaps on social media.
Privacy, Control, and Availability Across Platforms
OpenAI has emphasized user choice. The feature is entirely optional. While it may appear on the ChatGPT home screen, it does not open automatically. Users are not forced to view it.
The recap can also be launched manually. Users can simply ask ChatGPT for “Your Year with ChatGPT.” This gives users direct control over when and if they view the experience.
The feature is available on multiple platforms. It works on the ChatGPT web app. It is also supported on mobile apps for both iOS and Android. No additional downloads are required.
With this release, OpenAI is leaning into personalization. The recap highlights how AI has become part of daily routines. For many users, it reflects a year of learning, creativity, and problem-solving. Wider availability is now eagerly anticipated.
