Authorities have detained former Station House Officer (SHO) Adnan Virk after he allegedly used abusive language against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mehboob Aslam during a training session at the Chuhng Police Training Center in Lahore.
According to officials, the Crime Control Department (CCD) apprehended Virk directly from the training premises after receiving reports of inappropriate conduct. He was attending a professional development course for promotion to the rank of inspector when the incident occurred.
Audio Recording Exposes Misconduct
Sources revealed that an audio recording of the incident circulated on social media, capturing Adnan Virk using obscene language against DIG Mehboob Aslam. The clip later reached the DIG, prompting immediate internal action.
After learning about the matter, the DIG summoned Virk to his office and issued a formal warning regarding his behavior. However, moments after leaving the office, Virk allegedly repeated the abusive remarks, showing disregard for disciplinary authority.
CCD Initiates Swift Action
Following a formal complaint by DIG Mehboob Aslam, the CCD intervened promptly. Officers detained Adnan Virk from the training center and placed him under custody for interrogation.
A departmental inquiry has been launched to determine the full context of the incident, including whether any external factors influenced the officer’s actions. The CCD has also confirmed that the investigation will cover both his recent conduct and previous service record.
Background of the Accused Officer
Sub-Inspector Adnan Virk has served in various police roles, including as SHO of Mustafa Town Police Station and at multiple posts across Lahore. His professional history, postings, and disciplinary record are being reviewed to assess his overall service behavior.
Police sources stated that maintaining discipline and respect within the force is a top priority. Officers are expected to adhere to professional standards at all times, especially during training and official duties.
Inquiry and Disciplinary Measures
Officials emphasized that misconduct of this nature undermines institutional integrity and will not be tolerated. If found guilty, Adnan Virk could face strict disciplinary action, which may include suspension, demotion, or dismissal, depending on the outcome of the inquiry.
