Former Indian Army Colonel Amit Kumar has accused senior military officials (Brigadiers and Generals) of sexual abuse and systemic cover-ups. He asserted that crimes against women within the ranks are being ignored or actively suppressed under the current governmentโs watch.
Speaking publicly, Colonel Kumar alleged that the Indian military harbors “hidden sexual predators,” with some senior officers abusing their power to commit heinous acts. โThe sanctity of womenโs dignity is being violated by those meant to protect it,โ he said, calling India an increasingly unsafe country for women โ even within state institutions.
Former Indian Colonel Kumar made deeply personal and disturbing claims, stating that his wife was sexually assaulted by high-ranking officers, including generals and brigadiers, during a visit to a military family ward. โI brought my wife from the family ward, and she was raped,โ he stated. He added that these acts occurred in Odisha, with further abuse involving the local police.
Despite having what he claims are video recordings of the crimes, Kumar said no legal action has been taken. โThree brigadiers and a lieutenant colonel were named in FIR 33/2024, but all were exonerated,โ he said, adding that the case was investigated by the very individuals implicated in the crime.
He further alleged that key military figuresโsuch as the Adjutant General, Brigadier Prabhu, and Major General Sandeepโhave direct conflicts of interest, as they are either related to the accused or serve as their legal advisors. โHow can justice be delivered when the investigation is led by the accused themselves?โ he asked.
Colonel Kumar also condemned what he described as attempts by the Army to discredit and malign his wifeโs character through misleading narratives and fabricated evidence. โWho gave them the right to play with a womanโs dignity?โ he questioned.
The National Commission for Women intervened in the case, leading to the transfer of SP Kangra within five days, he said, adding, it was a move to disrupt the inquiry. Kumar vowed to expose what he described as corruption and abuse within the Indian Armyโs Western Command.
Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs leadership, Kumar accused the government of enabling a culture of impunity. โThanks to the Modi government, the military beasts are roaming free,โ he said. โInstead of ensuring justice, they are rewriting the stories of human rights abuses under the cover of uniform.โ
He concluded by expressing deep frustration with the silence of the Army Chief and the lack of medical records from the military hospital. โThis isnโt mere negligence โ itโs a deliberate attempt to obstruct justice,โ he said.
