Pakistan reports 1,737 COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths in 24 Hours
Pakistan has reported 25 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 969,476. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 22,520 on Friday. 1,737 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Till now 10,805 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 5,566 in Sindh, 4,348 in KP, 782 in Islamabad, 591 in Azad Kashmir, 317 in Balochistan, and 111 in GB.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar said on Friday has said that there are clear early signs of COVID-19’s fourth wave starting.
In a post on social-networking website Twitter, the minister said, “2 weeks back I had tweeted that our artificial intelligence models are showing possible emergence of 4th wave. Now there are clear early signs of 4th wave starting.”
Pakistan important partner in various fronts: US State Deptt
The United States on Thursday said that Pakistan is an important partner in various fronts and both the countries have shared interests in peace and stability in Afghanistan.
During the weekly press briefing, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price while replying to a query about Pakistan’s influence in bringing the Afghan Taliban, at this crucial juncture, to the table in Doha said that Pakistan and the US have shared interests, adding that Pakistan has been helpful when it comes to this shared interest in Afghanistan.
The spokesman said interests of the United States and Pakistan go well beyond that and include broader counterterrorism interests and the people-to-people ties that unite our two countries.
NAB decides to challenge Rana Sanaullah’s bail in SC
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday has decided to challenge the bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah in Supreme Court (SC).
NAB Lahore sources told that the prosecution team has prepared the document regarding bail cancellation of the PML-N leader in the assets beyond means case.
Earlier, the anti-graft watchdog had also decided to move the apex court against PML-N’s Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal. In April, 2021, Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted permanent bail to Rana Sanaullah.
Afghan politicians, Taliban agree ‘war is not solution
The Taliban delegation and a group of Afghan politicians in Tehran agreed during their meetings on Wednesday and Thursday that war was not the solution to the Afghan problem and that “a peaceful solution should be sought,” said a joint declaration.
The sides also agreed to hold talks in a “cordial atmosphere” on “issues that need further consultation and clarity, such as establishing a mechanism for the transition from war to lasting peace, and the agreed Islamic system and how to achieve it,” the declaration said. The Taliban delegation was led by the group’s negotiator, Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai.
Pakistan reiterates its resolve to continue support of Kashmiris
Pakistan has reiterated its firm resolve to continue support Kashmiri people in their just struggle for inalienable right to self-determination and resolution of the dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
In a statement on Thursday, on the occasion of fifth martyrdom anniversary of popular Kashmiri youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said this day should serve as a reminder to India to end its egregious human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and take concrete steps towards the resolution of the dispute.
PM Imran fears Indian virus variant could spread in Pakistan
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday while urging the masses to take advantage of availability of sufficient stock of vaccine, advised the people to get vaccinated against coronavirus fearing that Indian virus variant could spread in Pakistan.
The prime minister said that the coronavirus is constantly changing its form and the biggest problem for the world, including Pakistan, is the virus that spreads from India. “If we managed to contain the fourth wave, we will save the country from devastation,” he said.
Car prices decrease after reduction in Sales Tax
Car manufacturers have announced new reduced car prices after reduction in Sales Tax.
With the cut in taxes, a 660 cc car will cost Rs. 85,000 less similarly 1,000 cc car Rs. 110,000, 1300 cc car Rs. 48,000, 1500 cc car Rs. 160,000 and 1800 cc car 115,000.
According to sources, after the reduction, the minimum price of 1,000 cc car will be Rs. 1.53 million while 1300 cc car will cost Rs 1.97 million and 1500 cc car will cost Rs 3.74 million. Minimum price for 1,800 cc cars will be Rs 3.864 million.
