At least 17 people, including children, were injured in a bomb blast that struck a volleyball ground in the Barmal area of Lower Wana Tehsil, South Waziristan, on Tuesday evening.
Local sources said the explosion occurred during a friendly match, plunging the scene into chaos as panic spread among players and spectators.
Eyewitnesses reported that the blast was followed by intense gunfire, heightening the terror and confusion in the area.
The injured, several of whom are in critical condition, were immediately rushed to Wana Headquarters Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the nature of the explosion and identify those responsible. Security forces have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is ongoing.
The incident has sparked fear among local residents, many of whom have chosen to remain indoors as tension grips the region.
