FAISALABAD: The boiler explosion in a factory killed at least ten people on Friday morning in Faisalabad. The tragedy struck the glue-manufacturing factory in Faisalabad’s Malikpur area this morning. The blast reduced the structure to rubble and damaged several nearby houses.
According to the latest reports, the death toll in the factory blast in Faisalabad has increased to 18. Four children and two women are among the victims of the boiler blast this morning. Residents of the area described scenes of panic as the shockwave shook nearby homes. The boiler explosion left families confused, terrified, and searching for their missing family members.
Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident and began pulling survivors from the debris. Initially, officials confirmed three deaths and multiple injuries. However, the toll increased gradually after the recovery of more bodies from the collapsed building.
Moreover, some of the severely injured victims later succumbed to their wounds. The blast created widespread panic in the neighbourhood and left families searching for missing relatives. Rescue workers continued their search operations through thick smoke and scattered debris.
Rescue Teams Continue Search Efforts
A rescue department spokesperson confirmed that ten people had died and seven others were receiving treatment for injuries. He added that the boiler blast triggered a massive fire, which engulfed the factory’s chemical warehouse. The fire weakened the building and caused its roof and walls to collapse.
Furthermore, rescue teams reported that several workers might still be trapped under the fallen structure. They continued debris-removal work with heavy machinery. Officials expressed concern that the death toll could rise as the operation progressed.
The blast destroyed a major portion of the factory and scattered metal and chemical containers across the area. Rescue officials cordoned off the site to prevent further accidents. Smoke continued to rise as firefighters cooled the smouldering debris.
Nearby Houses Suffer Heavy Damage
Behind the factory premises, seven to eight adjoining houses also suffered significant roof and structural damage. Residents were trapped under falling bricks and wooden beams after the shockwave struck their homes. Rescue teams pulled several people out of damaged houses while continuing to search for others.
Additionally, civil defence personnel joined the rescue and relief efforts. Officials said the Faisalabad deputy commissioner supervised the operation at the site. Authorities launched an inquiry to determine whether negligence or inadequate safety measures caused the blast.
The tragic incident has raised concerns among people about the safety of industries and emergency preparedness in the factory areas.
