ISLAMABAD: The body of a Pakistani man killed in Iran earlier this month has been handed over to his family, a charity said on Tuesday.
Yasir Khan, 26, died on March 23. However, reports about how he was killed remain unclear and conflicting.
The Edhi Foundation stated that Khan was killed in an Israeli attack in Iran. The charity said his body was given to his relatives at the Taftan border crossing.
Some Pakistani media outlets reported a different story. They claimed Khan died in a US strike while working on a ship at Iranโs Bandar Abbas port.
Pakistanโs Foreign Office has not confirmed either account.
Injured Pakistanis Also Brought Back
The Edhi Foundation added that three other Pakistanis who were injured in Iran were also repatriated through the Taftan border. They have been moved to a hospital for treatment.
Only Yasir Khanโs body is being taken by Edhi ambulance from Taftan to Karachi.
This case shows how difficult it is to verify facts during the ongoing war between the US, Israel, and Iran. Details of many incidents remain unconfirmed.
Pakistan has urged its citizens in Iran and Gulf countries to stay very careful as the conflict grows.
The war, which began with US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, has already disrupted shipping, increased oil prices, and raised fears of a wider regional crisis.
Four Pakistani nationals have also died in the United Arab Emirates after debris from intercepted missiles fell during attacks.
