ISLAMABAD: After a ‘productive’ discussion with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman over the Israel-Hamas conflict, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is extending his Middle East shuttle diplomacy by a day, with plans to return to Israel on Monday.
Israel is preparing for a potential ground offensive in the Gaza Strip, and the United States is actively working to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
Israel has vowed to retaliate against Hamas for an attack on Israeli towns eight days ago, causing civilian casualties and hostage-taking.
US Secretary of State Blinken conducted extensive Middle East diplomacy, including meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. They discussed the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Blinken actively worked to prevent the conflict’s escalation, engaging with Arab allies and warning Iran against involvement. However, Iran issued a warning of “far-reaching consequences.”
Blinken’s trip included visits to Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. He emphasized the need to halt terrorist attacks, secure hostage release, and protect civilians.
The Gaza Strip faced the risk of Israel’s ground offensive, while Gaza reported significant casualties and displacement.
The Saudi-Israel normalization process was disrupted due to violence in Gaza, impacting regional dynamics.
Blinken also stressed the importance of establishing safe areas in Gaza and corridors for humanitarian aid.
Cairo played a crucial role in mediating between Israel and Hamas while working on allowing US citizens to leave Gaza.
Overall, the focus remained on stabilizing the region and protecting civilians amid escalating tensions.
