INDIA: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister Nitesh Rane has raised doubts about the authenticity of the recent knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, calling the incident into question and referring to the actor as “garbage.”
Khan, 54, was reportedly stabbed six times during an attempted burglary at his Mumbai residence. He was hospitalized following the attack, but later discharged and seen walking with photographers capturing his every move as he returned home.
Speaking at a public event in Pune, Rane questioned whether the attack was genuine or staged, saying, “Look at what Bangladeshis are doing in Mumbai, they entered Saif Ali Khan’s house. Earlier, they used to stand at road crossings, now they have started entering homes. Maybe they came to take Saif away. It is good, garbage should be taken away.”
Rane, who holds the position of Maharashtra’s Minister for Port Development, also expressed skepticism about Khan’s condition following his discharge from the hospital. “I saw him when he was discharged. He was dancing while walking,” he remarked, implying the actor’s injury may not have been as severe as reported.
The BJP minister also criticized Nationalist Congress Party leaders Supriya Sule and Jitendra Awhad for focusing on the well-being of Khans in the film industry, while allegedly neglecting Hindu actors. “Whenever any Khan like Shah Rukh Khan or Saif Ali Khan gets hurt, everyone starts talking about it. When a Hindu actor like Sushant Singh Rajput is tortured, no one comes forward to say anything,” Rane added.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam had previously raised similar concerns, questioning the circumstances of the attack and urging Khan’s family to clarify the details. “The way Saif came out of the hospital, it seems as if nothing happened four days ago. I want to ask the doctors, can a person whose operation lasted six hours come out in such good shape within four days?” Nirupam asked.
