Former US President Bill Clinton has released a video statement on X after his closed-door testimony before Congress on Jeffrey Epstein. He strongly denied any knowledge of the financier’s crimes. Clinton stressed he saw nothing wrong during their brief past connection.
Clinton testified for over six hours to the House Oversight Committee. This marked the first time a sitting or former president appeared before Congress in more than 40 years for such a probe. The committee investigates Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
In the video, Clinton explained he ended contact with Epstein years before the crimes surfaced. “I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing,” he said clearly. He added that photos from 20 years ago do not change facts. “I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong,” Clinton declared firmly. He insisted he would never have flown on Epstein’s plane if he suspected anything. Moreover, he would have reported Epstein personally if he knew the truth.
Clinton expressed regret for ever knowing Epstein. He said even with hindsight he noticed no red flags. During questioning, he addressed a photo of himself in a jacuzzi from the Epstein files. A person present reported Clinton did not recognize the woman and denied any sexual involvement. He repeatedly confirmed he never visited Epstein’s private island.
Clinton Criticizes Subpoena for Hillary Clinton
Clinton also criticized Republicans for subpoenaing his wife, Hillary Clinton, the day before. She stated she never met Epstein or visited his properties. He called her appearance “simply not right.”
He urged full transparency. Clinton hoped his testimony video, when released, would push others to speak. He called on the Justice Department to release all Epstein files. This would help survivors and prevent future cases, he said.
Democrats praised Clinton’s thorough answers. Representative Suhas Subramanyam said he answered everything openly. Republicans noted Clinton cleared Donald Trump of involvement. However, Democrats mentioned Clinton shared extra details about talks with Trump.
Trump has denied wrongdoing and said he ended his friendship with Epstein before any accusations.
Clinton’s statement aims to close the chapter. Yet, the Epstein probe continues with calls for more testimony and full document release.
