QUETTA: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, emphasized the need for a unifying political approach that bridges divisions among people during a rally in Quetta. He stressed the party’s intention to introduce a new people’s economic charter, aiming to bring about financial stability for ordinary citizens.
Speaking at the party’s foundation day rally at Ayub Stadium in Quetta, Bilawal highlighted the legacy of Benazir Bhutto, emphasizing her choice to unite rather than fragment the nation, despite having the option to penalize collaborators of past dictatorial regimes.
Emphasizing the importance of empowering the common person financially, Bilawal stressed the necessity of enhancing individuals’ financial capabilities to combat inflation.
He criticized other political entities for representing the elite rather than the interests of the ordinary citizens, asserting PPP’s commitment to being the voice of the common man and advocating for the youth.
In preparation for the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8, Bilawal mentioned PPP’s serious approach, contrasting it with other parties’ lack of focus.
Bilawal also unveiled plans for a ‘youth card’ initiative to provide vocational training, job opportunities, and access to sports facilities. Additionally, these cards would grant access to youth centers in various cities.
He blamed PMLN for mismanaging the treasury during their 16-month PDM government tenure.
Starting his speech with chants honoring Benazir and Bhutto, Bilawal led the crowd in chanting ‘Agli bari phir Zardari.’
This rally marked the first joint appearance of father and son since Bilawal’s previous critique of ‘old’ politicians.
Bilawal and Zardari, accompanied by senior party members, have been in Quetta since Wednesday.
Organizers completed rally preparations on Wednesday night, setting up 25,000 chairs in the stadium, expressing confidence in drawing a crowd that might overflow the venue.
In addition to party workers, PPP leaders anticipate participation from numerous tribal leaders and influential figures.
The Pakistan Peoples Party was established on November 30, 1967, in Lahore.
