Amid growing critical situation in covid hit India, celebrities are pinching in for the relief of nation. Among other medical facilities, scarcity of oxygen has put India under strain of constant loss of life. Given the condition, the latest celebrity to contribute to the public welfare was Bollywood’s Twinkle Khanna, wife of actor Akshay Kumar. Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar have donated 100 oxygen concentrators.
Khanna took it to Twitter to seek suggestions for legitimate platform that would extend the donations to the deserving.
Khanna informed the public how she had been ‘in a bit of a hole’ due to her family’s ill health, but now wanted to actively play in her part in offering assistance. Encouraging others to do the same, she said it would be a proud moment to look back on once the pandemic was over and they could be relieved it brought out the best in them.
“I think for the last few weeks with members of my own family ill I have been in a bit of a hole. But I couldn’t stay there for long,” she wrote on a post on Instagram. “I implore all of you in your own way to do whatever you can so we can look back at this bleak moment and at least say it took the worst but it brought out the best in all of us.”
Previously, her husband Kumar donated INR 10 million to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation.
“These are really tough times, Gautam Gambhir. Glad I could help. Wish we all get out of this crisis soon. Stay Safe,” he had replied on Twitter to the cricketer who thanked him for the gesture of kindness.
Similarly, Ayushman Khurana and his wife Tahira stepped up and contributed to the Covid relief fund.
“We have been in the eye of the storm since last year. This pandemic has broken our hearts, made us endure pain and suffering like never before, showed us how solidarity with one another can make us handle this humanitarian crisis. Today, again, this pandemic asks us to show fortitude, resilience, and mutual support,” Khurana wrote with a heavy heart.
Likewise, actress Sushmita Sen too managed to arrange oxygen cylinders, asking for help transporting them from Mumbai to Delhi towards areas that needed urgent aid.
