The bata company has reported a loss after tax of Rs356.056 million for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2025, compared to a profit of Rs577.355 million recorded during the same period last year, according to its unaudited condensed interim financial results released on Monday.
Net turnover during the period declined by 6 per cent to Rs13.031 billion, down from Rs13.849 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. As a result of the losses, the company posted a loss per share of Rs47.10, compared to earnings per share of Rs76.37 last year.
The management attributed the decline in turnover mainly to intense market competition and unfavourable economic conditions, particularly affecting the retail segment. The reduced sales volumes also placed pressure on in-house production operations at both the Batapur and Maraka plants.
Despite these challenges, the company said it remains focused on improving operational efficiencies to stay competitive in terms of both cost and product quality.
The company emphasized that customer satisfaction continues to be its top priority, with efforts underway to strengthen engagement through social media platforms, digital campaigns, and enhanced in-store experiences. Management expressed confidence in its ability to pursue sales targets while adapting to the challenging business environment.
Alongside its financial performance, the company continued to implement its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives during the reporting period. These included an interactive mentoring session at the Community Centre to educate employeesโ children on the responsible use of social media.
BCP volunteers also launched a Kitchen Gardening Campaign, conducting awareness sessions and distributing vegetable seed packs to promote sustainable living and food security within company premises and surrounding communities.
In connection with Founderโs Day, volunteers renovated a girlsโ school by undertaking masonry, painting, and gardening work. Additionally, mentoring sessions were held for girl students of a local school to enhance their computer literacy skills.
To support flood-affected populations, the company donated shoes to displaced families in District Mingora, Swat.
Despite the financial and economic pressures, the company said it remains optimistic about achieving its targets for the year, citing the dedication of its workforce and continued support from stakeholders, while reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility and national cohesion.
