QUETTA — The Balochistan government has initiated relief operations in Kingri Tehsil of Musakhel district after a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the region in the early hours of Sunday, causing damage to hundreds of homes and injuring several people, according to ARY News.
A spokesperson for the provincial government confirmed that the quake severely impacted mud-built houses in the area, leaving five people injured, including two in critical condition. Emergency teams are actively working in the affected zones to provide relief and medical assistance.
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake’s epicenter was located about 80 kilometers northwest of Dera Ghazi Khan, and its tremors were felt across the Musakhel district.
Significant damage was reported in the Rārāsham area, where two houses completely collapsed and five others were partially damaged. Local authorities confirmed that three individuals sustained injuries in these incidents alone.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that damage assessment is ongoing, with relief and response teams already on the ground delivering aid and evaluating the full extent of the destruction.
Officials assured that a detailed report outlining the total damages will be shared once assessments are completed. The government remains committed to supporting the quake-affected communities and has emphasized the need for timely rehabilitation efforts in the region.
