Pakistan star batter Babar Azam reached a landmark of 15,000 runs in international cricket during the third and final ODI against South Africa at the Iqbal Stadium on Saturday. The milestone came when Babar nudged a single off Bjorn Fortuin towards wide mid-on, taking his tally to 15,004 runs.
With this achievement, the 31-year-old becomes only the fifth Pakistani to cross 15,000 international runs. He joins legends Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, and Javed Miandad in this elite list, cementing his place among Pakistan cricket’s all-time greats.
Babar Among Pakistan’s Leading Run-Scorers
Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq tops the list of Pakistan’s international run-scorers with 20,541 runs in 547 innings, followed by Younis Khan with 17,790 in 491 innings, Mohammad Yousuf with 17,134 in 426 innings, and Javed Miandad with 16,213 in 407 innings.
Babar Azam, in just 370 innings, has now scored 15,004 runs, showcasing remarkable consistency across formats and highlighting his status as the backbone of Pakistan’s batting line-up.
Match Update and Performance Insights
Despite the milestone, Babar could not convert his start into a big innings. He was run out after scoring 27 off 32 deliveries, including five boundaries. His dismissal came at a crucial moment as Pakistan was recovering from a poor start, with opener Fakhar Zaman dismissed for a duck for the second consecutive match.
