Islamabad and Baku have embarked on a collaborative effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal of several locations within Pakistan’s federal capital, formalized through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two cities.
This partnership marks a significant step towards beautifying key areas in Islamabad with the support of Azerbaijani expertise.
On Thursday, a delegation of horticulture specialists from Baku arrived in Islamabad to initiate the renovation process.
The team, led by experienced horticulturists, met with Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
During the meeting, it was outlined that the renovation project would focus on four major sites in Islamabad: Srinagar Highway, Shakarparian, Saidpur Village, and Melody Food Park.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized the urgency of commencing the beautification project.
He directed the CDA’s environmental teams to start landscaping efforts across the city concurrently with the work carried out by the Baku experts.
This comprehensive approach aims to ensure that the city’s enhancement is both widespread and timely.
In addition to the renovation efforts, Azerbaijan has committed to providing various horticultural tools and machinery as a gift to Pakistan.
Furthermore, the Azerbaijani team will establish a nursery in Islamabad, which will serve as a resource for ongoing and future landscaping projects.
Chairman Randhawa also stressed the importance of adhering to a specific timeline for the renovation of all designated locations, ensuring that the project progresses smoothly and meets its goals.
The collaboration between Islamabad and Baku is expected to bring significant improvements to the city’s public spaces, creating a more vibrant and visually appealing environment for residents and visitors alike.
