Ayesha Omar Responds to Critics, Cites Her Mother’s Support
Actress and TV host Ayesha Omar has responded to online backlash surrounding the premiere of her new reality show, Lazawal Ishq. The first episode sparked mixed reactions, with some social media users demanding the show be banned.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ayesha shared that her mother loved the episode, calling it “very interesting and different.” She said her mother appreciated the way young people were allowed to express their emotions and opinions openly and respectfully.
“Did my mum like the first episode? Bilkulllll! Her opinion and feedback matter the most to me,” Ayesha wrote. She added that even her hit sitcom Bulbulay took years to grow on her mother.
The actress encouraged viewers to watch the full episode on YouTube and share their feedback. She also spoke warmly about her co-stars, saying she had grown close to the women she filmed with. Ayesha described the experience as emotional and meaningful, despite the public controversy.
PEMRA Says Lazawal Ishq Doesn’t Fall Under Its Jurisdiction
Even before its official launch, Lazawal Ishq faced harsh criticism. The show’s teaser triggered a wave of online disapproval, with users calling it “controversial” and urging authorities to ban it.
Amid rising tensions, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued a statement to clarify its stance. PEMRA confirmed that since Lazawal Ishq is streamed only on digital platforms and not aired on licensed TV channels, it does not fall under its direct control.
This clarification followed several public demands to block the show, with critics arguing that it shouldn’t be allowed to air in Pakistan. However, no legal action has been taken against the series so far.
