The Awami National Party (ANP) announced on Thursday its decision to abstain from participating in the parliamentary process, emphasizing its commitment to democracy and parliamentary supremacy, stated ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan.
Khan clarified that the ANP would not engage in the electoral process for the Senate and assemblies, citing concerns over the transparency of recent elections and the utilization of funds. He emphasized the party’s stance on returning the mandate to genuine representatives.
In a recent development, the ANP declared its support for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Balochistan for the upcoming Senate and Presidential elections. This decision followed a meeting between ANP representatives and former President Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the PPP.
During the meeting, which included delegates Zamurk Khan, Senator Daud Khan, and Senator Umar Farooq, strategic alliances and future collaborations were discussed. The ANP reaffirmed its commitment to backing the PPP in both Senate and presidential contests.
