Simultaneous incidents prompt Scotland Yard takeover
Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London are jointly investigating attacks on YouTubers Adil Raja and Shahzad Akbar after incidents in Chesham and Cambridge suggested coordination. The attacks occurred simultaneously on December 24, 2025, despite the two locations lying around 60 miles apart. As a result, Scotland Yardโs Counter-Terrorism Command assumed control of both cases from Thames Valley Police and Cambridgeshire Police.
According to credible sources, two men broke into Rajaโs home in Chesham at around 8am and ransacked the property. At nearly the same time, Akbar suffered an assault at his Cambridge residence at approximately 8:08am when he opened his front door. Investigators believe the timing and targeting of the incidents raised serious concerns.
A Counter Terrorism Policing London spokesperson confirmed that the Chesham property was unoccupied during the break-in. Police have since contacted Raja and continue to provide safety and security guidance. However, officers have not yet confirmed whether suspects stole any items, and no arrests have been made.
Police examine multiple incidents linked to Akbar
Police are also investigating two separate incidents involving Akbar, a former accountability chief under Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan. On December 31, 2025, two men reportedly broke a window at Akbarโs unoccupied property. One suspect then attempted to throw a burning rag through the window, but it failed to ignite or cause damage.
Authorities continue to examine whether this incident connects to the December 24 assault. While officers maintain an open mind regarding motive, they currently believe no wider public threat exists. Investigations remain active, and police continue to liaise closely with both victims.
